31 Days of Horror Movies - Day 4

All right! We are officially on Day 4, only 27 more to go! Don't worry we are slowly getting into the creepier stuff and today's recommendation is one that gets better and better! Day 4 - Coraline That Henry Selick sure knows how to make 'em scary and Coraline is no exception. Adapted from the beloved Neil Gaiman story, Coraline is a wildly imaginative coming of age story where a young girl travels to an alternate world filled with disturbing mirror images of her family. All this sounds very similar to other great works of literature and film, think Alice in Wonderland or Spirited Away , but what makes Coraline so scary is the fact that Selick does not hold back when it comes to the spooky visuals and designs; you will certainly never see buttons the same way after watching this YA horror classic. Not only are the designs and the style (again, stop motion) perfectly suited for horror but the film also explores sinister ideas and themes like the supernatural, trauma, e...

31 Days of Horror Movies - Day 3

Welcome to Day 3! If you've survived our first two days, that means you're on the right track and your horror marathon is going amazing. You can read all about our friendly, yet spooky, recommendations here ! Day 3 - Paranorman We are sticking with the stop-motion classics for this part of the list and Paranorman is not only a bonafide genre classic but it is also a love letter to horror movies... for kids! This is another one of those perfect gateway horror for kids where the scares are fun but they're genuinely scary if you're under the age of 13. The story centers on a young boy who can talk to ghosts and accepts the task of ending an ancient curse. OK, sounds like standard supernatural horror stuff, except what is cool is that this is PG animated movie for kids! Brought to life by Laika and directed by Sam Fell and Chris Butler, Paranorman is a film that not only references horror cinema, but was made by people who love the genre with all their heart. There are ...

Welcome to Day 2! To keep it short, we're taking on the challenge to recommend a horror movie every day of October - that's right it's 31 Days of Horror Movies! You can read more about it here  and we're ready for Day 2! Day 2 - Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas A multi-seasonal favorite that plays from Halloween - Christmastime, The Nightmare Before Christmas still remains one of the biggest cult hits of all time and with good reason, it is fantastic! Directed by Henry Selick, and produced by Tim Burton, the film tells the story of Jack Skellington (what a name!) and his discovery of Christmas as he tries to incorporate the holiday cheer into Halloween Town (different town from our very first pick). There are musical numbers, all produced and sung by Danny Elfman, as well as yuletide horror, creepy creatures and crawlies, and the best part... it's all presented in beautiful stop-motion animation. The cast is spectacular (Catherine O'Hara, Chris...

It might be the autumnal covers of the cover or the incredibly melancholy aspect of the entire album but Red (Taylor's Version) , along with folklore and evermore , feels like Taylor's clearly identifiable fall albums. Red (Taylor's Version) is a gargantuan piece of music; spanning 30 songs and multiple genres (including pop, indie folk, and even country), the fall vibes and emotions are on full display with...
