31 Days of Horror Movies - Day 2

Welcome to Day 2! To keep it short, we're taking on the challenge to recommend a horror movie every day of October - that's right it's 31 Days of Horror Movies! You can read more about it here and we're ready for Day 2!

Day 2 - Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas

A multi-seasonal favorite that plays from Halloween - Christmastime, The Nightmare Before Christmas still remains one of the biggest cult hits of all time and with good reason, it is fantastic! Directed by Henry Selick, and produced by Tim Burton, the film tells the story of Jack Skellington (what a name!) and his discovery of Christmas as he tries to incorporate the holiday cheer into Halloween Town (different town from our very first pick). There are musical numbers, all produced and sung by Danny Elfman, as well as yuletide horror, creepy creatures and crawlies, and the best part... it's all presented in beautiful stop-motion animation. The cast is spectacular (Catherine O'Hara, Chris Sarandon, Danny Elfman, Ken Page, and the late great Paul Reubens) but its the wondrous animation and innovative story that has allowed to transcend from sleeper hit at the box office, to Hot Topic sensation, to holiday favorite!

The amount of excitement at that sentence cannot be overstated, as this day on this month feels perfect, it just feels right! So without any further ado, there's only one movie we can choose for today and it is... Day 13 - The Eras Tour ............. Totally kidding. Day 13 - Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives We have all seen the original Sean S. Cunningham film and its great sequences, including its all timer ending, but for today I wanted to spotlight an entry that maybe doesn't get as discussed as Parts 1 - 4 and that is Part VI . Written and directed by Tom McLoughlin, Friday the 13th Part VI pulls a 180 and pushes the franchise completely into the realm of the supernatural complete with an imposing and frightening undead Jason. While the Friday franchise has been one to introduce comedic relief characters and funny moments, Part VI is the one th...
